One Fine Day pt. 2

Here is part two of this story. The project specs required that each image is in an 8x8 square and we were not allowed to use text to develop the story at all. So in this wordless 8 page I took my Chameleon character and parachuted him into a foreign country where a Panther dictator has been terrorizing the poor lizard people. The chameleon sneaks into the enemy compound and assassinates said dictator taking his tail as conformation of the kill. Enjoy.

One Fine Day pt. 1

I finally posted again!??!?!?! Holy shit, I must be really bored.
Well here is part 1 of a project I did last semester. It was titled One Fine Day, or as I like to call it O.F.D.
I created the characters, and the story is mine...I ended up using the Stealth Chameleon again in the class for a 16 page comic book proposal. I want to use him again for an animation but we'll see how that goes cause I've never done an animation before and I may bite off more than I can chew.

George Carlin-ism

Alright, I haven't been working on it much lately, but here is the progress on that George Carlin portrait I started a little while back. I kinda like it, but I also kinda hate it, haha. That's the way things usually go with me, when it comes to my artwork. I think it looks okay, but I know it's missing some things and in the process of trying to figure out what those things are I begin to hate the piece I'm working on. So right now I'm in that stage, where it's beginning to frustrate me and I don't really want to work on it anymore. But I will at some point. I like it too much to totally give up on it. Besides Shannon will probably force me to finish it at some point. Another good thing about dating someone who you actually listen to. She can make me do things I should do but don't really have the motivation to. Like not quitting when I really....reallly...really want to, haha. Well speaking on girlfriends, I should be getting ready to go see mine.
I'll make sure to get some more shit rolling for the next update. It's been a little slow for me on the art end the past couple days.

Live well my friends,

Here is a couple of other things I've been working on. Sunday night George Carlin passed away, and seeing as he was one of my major influences in my life, I couldn't help but do a drawing of him. Right now it's just the pencils but I plan on inking the entire drawing. I'll make sure to keep you guys updated on its progress, unless I completely mess it up. And then I'll just keep that little piece of information to myself.

Alright, So I'm pretty much done with this painting. Changed a little bit. At one point their was a faded blue background on the left. But I didnt like it. And I decided to give her the shirt instead. I love when she wears that shirt, it's definitely my favorite, so I after the idea came to me it was a no brainer. The shirt was definitely a better choice than the blue background.
I usually don't do portraits, because its a pretty big weakness I have. I've never been very good at them. So I guess I'll try and focus more on them this summer to get better.
Alright well, I kinda like this painting. Probably cause its of my girlfriend, and it kinda looks like her. But the Celtics just won the Championship, and I need to take a shower and go to bed 'cause I got work tomorrow.

Live well

Accidental Happiness

These are going back a bit. These are from the first semester of freshman year. My elective was Relief Printing, definitely the best class I have ever taken...ever. Nona Hershey was probably the best teacher I have had at Mass Art. It was because of her that I came out with these prints. She loved variation prints, she used to make us to like 5-10 perfect copies of our prints, and then do like 5 variations of our prints. For me the variations always appealed to me. After a few projects I started to focus on the variations rather than the real print from the blocks I carved. These two prints are from two blocks I did of trees, the second one the block was rotated and printed multiple times at multiple angles. The first piece was the tree printed twice, one time normal the other time rotated on itself. The white bar at the bottom is my favorite part of the piece and it was totally by accident. I was using a press that you have to crank the roll over the block. The roll has an gap in it, and when you set the block too far back the gap hits the block and doesn't apply any pressure, so the paper doesn't pick up the ink on that spot. Thank God for happy accidents I guess.

Suffering the Unmotivated

This right here is my girlfriend's favorite piece. I told her she could have it, just haven't had the opportunity to give it to her yet. I wish I had spent more time on this when I was doing it. Towards the end of the semester in Human Figure in Illustration I lost some motivation and began to rush some projects so that I could focus more time on other projects for other classes. As you can probably tell that the main focus(the center of the image) is the most detailed, and as your eye moves to the outer edges of the image there is less and less detail. I wish I had spent more time on making it a more cohesive piece, the color was the only saving grace for it, the black and white image was just too unfinished.
